Its that time of year! When all of the holiday party invites start rolling in and everyone starts panicking about what to wear to this year’s festive events. I come across all sorts of issues when determining what to wear to a party but the biggest challenge I face each year is deciding what to wear to my company holiday party. The outfit can’t be too tight or revealing but you also want to avoid looking like a matronly nun. How do you strike a balance?
To avoid looking like a holiday tartlet, its best to reveal only so much skin. If you opt for a sleeveless dress then make sure the rest of the dress is an appropriate length and pair it with dark stockings. If you’ve got great gams and want to show them off in a mini dress I would 0pt for one with long sleeves to balance out the look and again stick with dark stockings to make sure you’re not giving everyone a xmas peepshow! Also, its best to avoid skyscraper heels and over accessorizing – nothing to flashy. You work with these people everyday and it would be great if you could return to the office on Monday with your dignity in tact.
There are a ton of great, affordable holiday office party options out there. I’ve seen a lot of great pieces that incorporate some of this winter’s trends including velvet, metallics and sharp tailoring. Here are a few pieces I’m considering for this year’s party and they are all under $100!
The Little Black Dress
You really can’t go wrong with this trend. One of the greatest things about a LBD is that you can dress these pieces up with a statement necklace or great pair of earrings or go for a more minimalist look and stick to a streamlined look with a great clutch. There are so many options and these dresses can take you well past the holiday season.
Winter White & Festive Brights
There are ways to wear red, green & white during the holidays without looking like a great, big, snowy christmas tree.
